Open House:  On Thursday, May 18, John Paul II Academy will host an Open House, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  Please come and meet the new principal , acquaint yourselves with the  building and teachers  for the 2006-2007 school year.  

 

Picnic donation:  Each school family is asked to donate a cake mix and frosting, or $3.00.  If the family donates these items for the cake booth, then all students in the family will be able to enjoy a non-uniform day on Friday, May 19. If you have questions about appropriate dress, please consult the handbook.   Goody Jars:  Please remember to send your items for the picnic Goody Jars to school. 

 

Closing Ceremony: Plans are under way for the closing school liturgy and ceremony.  All parents are invited to join us for the day.  There will be an 8:00 liturgy.  Pass the word to all former students, teachers, assistants and anyone else who may be interested in attending.   All students will be posing on the football field for a group picture.  Lunch ($1.00 per student) and field day activities will be enjoyed for the remainder of the afternoon.  Students will need money for lunch—they will not be using lunch account money on this day.

 

Cake walk donations:  The PTO is asking for baked goods to be donated to the cake walk that will be held the afternoon of the closing ceremonies.  The items will be picked up by PTO volunteers as the children are dropped off for school on the morning of May 24.    

 

Lunch Accounts:  All lunch accounts must be paid in full for the closing of the school cafeteria at the end of the year.  Students who have accounts that are not up to date are offered peanut butter, crackers and water for lunch.

 

Library Books:  Please be sure that all library books are returned and late fees are paid for the closing of the school library.  Mrs. Heady will be completing the inventory and it is necessary to have these matters taken care of no later than Friday, May 19. 

 

Awards Day:  On the last day of school, Wednesday, May 31, all students will receive awards recognizing their hard work throughout the past school year.  These programs will be held in the classrooms.  Please check the following schedule.  Please come join us!

Theatre Workshops:  The Blue Apple Players are offering summer workshops for students in Grades K-11.  Please check in the school office for dates, times and topics. 

 

East End Kumon Math and Reading Center:  The Kumon Center will offer a program to build strong learning skills and disciplined study habits.  Call 877-586-6671 or visit their website for more information. www.kumon.com

 

Eighth Grade Graduation:  Eighth grade students will celebrate their graduation on Thursday, May 25, at 7:00 p.m., in St. Pius X Church.  Please keep them in your prayers as they leave St. Pius X School and move onto the next stage of their life.

 

PK Closing Program:  Mrs. Ryan’s PK will have a closing program on Friday, May 26. Please come join the students as they celebrate their accomplishments!

 

Last Day for PK and K:  Tuesday, May 30 will be the last day of school for students in PK and K.  Kindergarten graduation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, in the Community Center.

 

 Memorial Day Holiday: No School Enjoy a safe Memorial Day with family and friends on Monday, May 29!

Mary Heather Adam will be working in her husband’s store.

Sharon Ash is retiring early from school counseling and looks forward to pursuing other career opportunities.
