FITNESS FEELS GOOD AND IS GOOD FOR YOU UPDATE

Your children have been actively engaged in several activities since the end of September.  At the elementary level, the students have been introduced and some grades have reviewed locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills.  These are various movements such as running, jumping, bending, swaying, and juggling that can be used throughout life. At the beginning of December, grade 4 will be tested on their knowledge of these various skills. To incorporate these movements, holiday games/stations are great ways to observe their skills in fun fashion. Would you know how to jingle jump or play soccer ghoul?  Do you know what bats about Halloween might mean or how to fatten up the turkey?  Why not ask your kids about  sledding or skating  during class?

Handouts were given to some of the upper level classes to learn about the basic concepts of badminton such as the history of the sport, beginning strategies, and basic rules of the game.  Not only were they checked on their skill level, but were questioned and tested on their knowledge of the game.

The three ways to measure fitness are strength, endurance and  flexibility.  In order to enhance these areas, the jr. high classes have been divided into groups and for their warm-up, they are performing activities that promote each of these characteristics. Have you ever thought of how many times you could stand up, lie flat, and stand up again in 60 seconds?

Fitness is for everyone who wants to feel good, and enjoy good health.  That includes all of us.  Working together, let’s get fit!!
