ST. PIUS X PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES – DECEMBER 5, 2005

 

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. with a prayer by Fr. Chuck Walker.

 

Roll Call was taken.  Byron Theodore, Terri Crawley and Patti Vance were excused.  Dale Pike was present on behalf of Stewardship.

 

Jo-Dee Jackson was introduced as the new 39-49 age representative,    It was announced that Marsha Kareken will be resigning as the 50-59 age representative due to health problems.

 

November minutes were corrected to reflect “Social Concerns” report attached.  Motion made by Sr. Martha Jacob and second by Patsy Meyer to approve minutes with the correction.  Motion carried.

 

Patrick White advised there would be two goals at each meeting:  (1) a monthly financial report and (2) vote on stewardship or going to tuition.  After further discussion, these were tabled to January meeting in order to get December figures for end of the year in order to have more realistic numbers.

 

Kelly Collard presented a report on the budget and current income as of October 2005, report attached.  Discussion was held.

 

Fr. Chuck stated he received a letter advising any Pastors who are due to move to consider staying another year unless they are up for retirement.  Fr. Chuck advised he has already asked for an extension, but did send another letter requesting to stay.

 

Fr. Chuck further talked about Parish and Regional Planning Committee.  There are currently ten parishes in our region:  St. Barnabas, St. Bartholomew, Ascension, St. Martha, St. Pius, St. Francis in Mt. Washington, St. Michaels, St. Edwards and St. Gabriel.

 

Discussion was held regarding attendance at St. Pius.  It was agreed that a survey of four different weekends will be taken at all masses for attendance.

 

Roy Hill has offered to talk about increasing pledges, especially among non-school families.

 

Sr. Martha Jacob gave a report on the survey with discussion held afterward.  The committee will meet again to sort out the feedback for a presentation to the parish in the Dialogue and the web cite.

 

Committee reports were received from Social Concerns, Parish Life, Formation and Worship.  Administration had no report 

 

Dale Pike asked for a prayer service for those who are sick.  After discussion, this will be held on February 26 instead of having the regular adoration service.

 

Next meeting will be TUESDAY, Janurary 3, 2006.
