ST. PIUS X
PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES - DECEMBER 6,
2004
Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m.
with a reading by Byron Theodore.
Roll call was taken. Terri Crawley
was represented by Ron Hohmann. Excused were Sr. Martha Jacob and Joanie
Echsner.
Motion was made by Marsha Kareken
and second by Ashley Kareken to approve November minutes. Motion
carried.
Fr.
Chuck discussed meeting of BBAMP Priests
of December 3 and affirmed there would be no major overhauling of the schools
for next year. There was discussion of trying to merge some other parish
activities such as RCIA. Some collaboration of the RCIA services could
occur and potentially various youth and senior citizens services. There was also
some discussion of further collaborative ventures such as Sunday school of
religion for various parishes. Fr.
Chuck handed notes from St. Barnabas regarding potential
organizational structure for BBAMP activities.
Fr.
Chuck advised that the BBAMP parishes
also need to prepare for the fact that they may not have an active priest.
This could occur within the next one and a half years we. Further talk on this
matter was tabled to January meeting. It was suggested that a committee of 3 or
5 people be appointed to address this issue for St. Pius
X.
Fr.
Chuck commented on the response regarding
the St. Pius sharing and caring tree. The
response has been great and gifts are due by the December 18th.
Fr.
Chuck received a letter from Spalding University honoring Lillian Milanof as a
Distinguished Alumnus and is asking the Ten Percent committee to consider a
donation in Lillian’s honor.
John Beyke advised of the update of
pictures of Parish Council members in back of
church.
Committee reports were discussed.
John noted that Terry Crawley had
suggested to him that an alternate attend the Parish Council meetings
representing the 5-Committee Chairs when they cannot attend. He liked the
suggestion and encouraged other 5-Committee Chairs to follow
suit.
Old
Business: Jennifer Mitchell discussed
the Long Range Plan and advised that all updates are needed by the end of the
week. Once approved, these will be put on St. Pius’ web
site.
The
Year of the Eucharist proposal is still in the works. There will be something in
the Bulletin. The proposal has been submitted to the Worship Committee and
approved for implementation.
New Business: St. Pius Web site
Parish Council Page was discussed. Comments were solicited and
received. The Parish Council Page should be up and running in test form
before the end of the year.
There have been 26 people
signed up to go to Guatemala in May. The cost will be
split with half of cost raised by special fundraisers at a cost of $750 per
person with the balance being paid by St. Pius.
