ST. PIUS X PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES - JANUARY 3, 2005

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. with a prayer from Fr. Chuck.

All present except Ashley Kareken and Jennifer Mitchell, who were excused.

Motion made by Patrick White and second by Sune Dunne to approve minutes from previous meeting. Motion carried.

Bob Zimlich was introduced as Chairperson of the Finance Committee, who made comments retarding the current budget. Discussion was held regarding the budget and the Finance Committee's recommendation, i.e., to return to tuition in June and to adjust operating costs for parish, including parish offices, school and various committees to come closer to a balanced budget. Current projections indicate a potential $200,000 plus deficit for the next year. The following were in attendance and spoke during the discussion period:

Rob Hornung, Dale Polston, John Kissel School Board

Debbie Peterson, John Bruning, Roy Hill, Bob Zimlich Finance Committee

Dale Pike, Jim McGoff, Tim Bickel Stewardship

Free and open discussion was held with the general consensus to avoid a move from stewardship if at all possible. At the end of the discussions, Fr. Chuck thanked everyone for all their time in working on the budget. Would like to see a resolution to be able to stay on stewardship. Fr. Chuck will solicit recommendations from the Parish Council at the February 7 Council meeting regarding this topic. The final decision will be made by Fr. Chuck in consultation with Carolyn Zeirer and the Finance Committee.

Committee reports were handed out. Administration had no report. Patsy Meyer with Parish Life will be working on the mentoring program.

For the next three Sundays, Fr. Chuck will talk about the liturgical changes.

Sue Dunne expressed we should change the phrase “priestless parish” to something else.

Fr. Chuck asked for volunteers to serve on a committee to re-evaluate the need for a Parish Administrator. John Beyke, Lillian Millanof and Sarah Schurfranz will be on this committee.

Meeting adjourned at 9:07 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sharon L. Hibbs

Secretary
