News, & other information, etc……. for 2006
6th Grade Social Studies – The 6th
grade is actively involved in the study of Western Europe……………this includes a
study of the Holocaust and its effect on the world. In February the 6th grade will
attend the play: “And Then They Came For Me: Remembering
the World of Anne Frank”. This should
provide an exciting moment for the 6th graders.
In addition to the Holocaust
study, the 6th graders will be working on their “Cathedral Project”
which will involve the completion of a tri-fold board and a written
packet. They should be well prepared
when we visit the Basilica in the spring.
7th Grade Ancient
History – The 7th graders began with the civilization of ancient
8th Grade U.S.
History - Native Americans and The 13 Colonies were studied by the 8th
graders. They now are becoming involved
with the Revolutionary War. Their study will involve research, films, and cross
curriculum activities beginning with the study of the revolutionary war novel, Johnny
Tremain.
All classes connect their
learning with the “5 themes of geography” as their main application skill. The “who,
what, when, where and why” are the main guideposts for the study of history. Discussion, visual representations, classroom
activities, technology use, written work and research are all a part of a well
rounded history curriculum………
