GRADE
8 GOALS August,
2005
Dear 8th Grade Parents and Students,
Welcome to
the new school year! We would like to
take this opportunity to communicate our goals for 8th grade
students this year. As teachers new to
St. Pius X this year, we are looking forward to guiding your children through
this exciting and busy time in their lives.
Our focus
this year is to help our students grow in their faith, exhibit leadership
skills, and develop study habits that will help them succeed in high school.
To prepare
for Confirmation in December, we will be guiding the students in their
knowledge of the Catholic faith. We will
be encouraging the children to lead prayer at the beginning of each religion
class and participate fully in school and weekend liturgies. Catholic doctrine, Church history, and issues
related to morality will be discussed throughout the year.
Our goal is that the students understand the
responsibilities and sacrifices associated with being a Catholic Christian.
The 8th
grade will be expected to take a leadership role during the school year. They will be called upon to serve the school,
the Church, and the community. In
addition, younger students will observe their choices and emulate them. As positive role models, they can have a
tremendous impact on the behavior and attitude of others. This is a very serious responsibility. Our goal is to help the students learn that
true leaders serve others.
To prepare
for high school, we will help the 8th graders develop good study
habits. We will recommend strategies and
offer suggestions to the students that stress planning, organization,
understanding, and responsibility. These
skills will give each student a sense of self-confidence and
self-reliance. Our goal is that the students
will become independent learners and succeed in their future academic
endeavors.
We will do
our best to help your children have a rewarding and successful 8th
grade school year. The time and support
you give your child is also important for success. Please let us know if you have any questions
or needs specific to your child. We will
be happy to meet with you. We look
forward to working with you and the students.
As teachers, it is very rewarding to witness the transformation and
growth of these young men and women throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Mrs.
Brockie
